Francis Mugwanya
Francis is the founder of The Father's Heart Ministry which brings the gift of mobility to many disabled people in Uganda. He began this ministry on his own 6 years ago and presently works under the leadership of Ggaba Community Church in Kampala, Uganda. He has partnered with other organizations such as Heart 4 Africa, Africa Renewal Ministries, Free Wheelchair Ministries and Joni and Friends.
Francis had polio when he was 3 years old and crawled on his hands and knees until he was 11. His difficult life of crawling through mud or hot sun-scorched dirt roads left him with a humongous heart for the millions of handicapped Africans now without wheelchairs or help. For a handicapped person in Uganda, paying $90-$210 for a wheelchair is nearly impossible and would require an entire year's salary. Since most of these people can not get jobs it is likely that they will never experience the dignity that mobility brings. Francis wants to change the odds against these people and prove to them that they too can fulfill their calling and purpose. His mission is to empower the forgotten people of his society and restore them to the life God meant for them to enjoy.
